Security Training

This is a content resource to help candidates access SIA Security Training throughout the UK.

The application for an SIA Licence will follow SIA Security training, whether carried out by the employer or the individual, upon which an SIA badge is issued.  Academic modules are completed s prescribed by the SIA.

Security Training can be booked online via the AAB Training website.

The Security training course itself will contain both practical and theoretical elements, which will be assessed by the learning provider. Security Job training in the UK does not consist of theory only, as core competency for the security guard incorporates several other aspects.

It is important to remember that Modular QCF based security training will enable the applicant to get the SIA badge subject to a CRB check. The concessions to foreign learners with accredited prior learning for security training remains rather insignificant, the main reason is the fact that whilst operational experience and expertise might be transferrable, UK laws are different and the entire SIA training course range is designed on the basis of UK security law.

The types of security training that is available:

Security Training for Guarding (Static and patrol included)

Security Training for Door Supervision

Secuity Training for Close Protection (Bodyguarding)

Security Training for Wheel Clamping

All types of Security Training is available at regularly scheduled events in London, Birmingham, Manchester, Cardiff, Portsmouth, Belfast, Luton, Milton Keynes, Leeds, Glasgow, Scotland, Edinburgh, Bristol and other major cities.

At present, distance learning is not the preferred choice for the industry, as contact hours are stipulated. It is howerver important that if English is not your first language, prior reading takes place, to ensure that attendance of the Security Training in London or other cities are running smooth.

Is physical intervention mandatory in Security Training?

This all depends on which type of Security Training the individual chooses, the only security qualification that currently imposes mandatory physical intervention or “control and restraint training” is Door Supervisor Training, in which case a qualified security training officer, also holding a level 3 certicate in physical intervention training will be available to provide the necessary coaching.

What other qualifications will my security training consultant have?

1. A PTLLS 7303 train the trainer qualification, which can be awarded by City and Guilds, Edexcel or other organizations.

2. A Level 3 conflict management certificate or 1886 certificate, also awarded by the same

3. A level 3 physical intervention trainer certificate, awarded by City and Guilds, EDI, BTEC level 3 (Edexcel) or ICM, through an ICM quality awards centre such as AAB Training.

In addition to the above, it is common practice for security training providers to also be in posession of valid first aid at work certification.
