Door Supervisor Training: How to become a Door Supervisor.
The Door Supervisor is a multi skilled operator, capable of delivering service in a variety of environments.
The skills posessed by a Door Supervisor goes beyond that of an ordinary security guard, as besides dealing with
the usual health and safety obligations i.e. medic first aid provision and risk assessment a Door Supervisor also deals
with issues pertaining to licensing law, conflict management and physical intervention.
Can a Door Supervisor arrest members of the public?
Yes – however this is known as a “citizens arrest” – hence a Door Supervisor does not have powers equating to that of police officers.
Why are Door Supervisors preferred over static guards?
Employers have corporate responsibility towards the public and a Door Supervisor has all the necessary qualifications to provide a versatile solution to such needs. Static guards are not trained in Physical intervention which increases risk to the employer.
Can a Door Supervisor render first aid?
Yes – But only if they have been trained as a first aider. AAB Training offers medic first aid training to Door Supervisors.
Can a Door Supervisor apply Physical Intervention?
Yes – Since August 2010 all Door Supervisors are undergoing Physical intervention training and may apply physical intervention in instances where appropriate.
Can a Door Supervisor operate a CCTV system?
Yes – But only of trained as a CCTV operator. AAB Training offers a 2 day add on course for Door Supervisors to become CCTV operators.
Upon completion of the Door Supervisor Course – how soon can I start working?
All you need to arrange is your SIA licence, after which you may commence with work immediately.

Nightclubs, Casinos, Hotels, Construction sites, Office Blocks, Airports, Retail parks, museums, exhibitions and many more.
What is the cost of a Door Supevisor Licence?
The Door Supervisor Licence is obtained from the SIA directly, upon completion of our course – and the fee is set by the government, charged as a form of tax every three years. The cost may be adjusted annually – please check the SIA website for up to date information.
